This is a Bladnoch single malt bottled independently by Alexander Murray and Co, the California-based company founded in 2004 by Steve Lipp. Bladnoch was established in 1817 on the River Bladnoch in Wigtownshire and is the most southerly distillery in Scotland.
The whisky was distilled in 1990 and matured for 25 years in a vatting of refill ex-bourbon casks. It is bottled at 40% ABV.
The nose is waxy and syrupy, with tropical fruit such as mango, papaya and guava, plus apricot, vanilla icing sugar and clotted cream. The palate is sweet and fruity, with citrus, banana, maple sugar and gentle spice. The finish is long, with soft vanilla.
