This is a Blair Athol 12 Year Old from the Flora & Fauna range, dating from around 2005, bottled at 43% ABV. It is amber in colour.
The nose opens nutty and caramelly with a big maltiness and hints of liquorice, then moves towards sherry, Seville orange, a little peat, leather and tobacco. The palate is more sherried still, with fruitcake, coffee liqueur, liquorice, orange liqueur, cherry stem tea and a little walnut, half sweet and half dry.
The finish is medium long and balanced, with mulled wine spices, cloves, star anise and cinnamon.
