This is a 2022 limited edition of Blanton's single barrel bourbon, built around Char No. 4.
Char levels run from 1 to 4, and Blanton's uses the highest, No. 4, for its barrels. Charring caramelises the natural sugars in the oak and acts as a filter for impurities left from distilling. At this level the wood gives sweet vanilla and caramel notes, along with smoky and earthy character.
