Boulder Peated American Single Malt Whiskey is a peated single malt made at Vapor Distillery in Colorado. The barley is smoked, fermented and distilled there, then filled into new American oak casks that are kept and monitored in a federal bonded warehouse. Boulder Spirits judged that the whiskey tasted best at 46% ABV, and bottled it at that strength in a 70cl bottle. The story began in 2011, when Alastair Brogan moved from Scotland to Colorado with his 1,000 gallon Forsyth still. As a Scot, he set out to show that a smoky single malt can be made in the United States too.
