This is a Bowmore 12 year old from the 1980s, an official bottling in a one litre bottle made for duty free sale, at 43% ABV. The whisky is a deep gold colour.
The nose combines dried exotic fruits and tropical fruit teas with gentle peat smoke, medicinal roots, tar and herbs, plus faint metal polish and soot. On the palate it is peaty, with dried and crystallised exotic fruit, passionfruit, a little sherry influence and a resinous saltiness. The finish is long, peaty, fresh and coastal, with preserved exotic fruit.
