Bowmore 12 Year Old Sherry Oak is an Islay single malt bottled at 40% abv. It matured for twelve years in ex-bourbon and ex-oloroso sherry casks, then spent its final months in a further selection of oloroso sherry casks.
The nose is round and creamy, with vanilla, caramel, red berries and dried fruit, and a hint of peat smoke. On the palate there is stewed pear with cinnamon and brown sugar, and toasted notes of caramelised almonds, while the smoke builds steadily. The finish is long, with distinct smoke.
