Bowmore 15 Year Old is an Islay single malt bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle. It spends 12 years in ex-bourbon casks, then a further 3 years in Oloroso sherry casks, which give it a deep dark colour and a warm finish.
The distillery was founded in 1779 by the Simson family on the shore of Loch Indaal.
The colour is burnt sienna. The nose combines dark chocolate and raisins with Bowmore's smokiness. On the palate there is cedar wood and rich molasses toffee, with a spicy taste of toffee, sherry and barley.
