Bowmore – 15 Year Old (43%)

A 15-year-old Islay single malt from Bowmore, bottled at 43%. It is matured in ex-bourbon casks of American oak and Oloroso sherry casks of European oak. The bourbon casks add soft vanilla and sweetness, while the Oloroso casks bring fruit, spice and depth. Bowmore has stood on the shore of Loch Indaal since 1779. Part of its barley is still malted by hand on the distillery's own floors and dried over a peat fire. The whisky combines fine peat smoke, sea salt and fruity sweetness, and is often seen as more balanced than the most heavily peated Islay malts.
