This is an 18 year old single malt from Bowmore on Islay, founded in 1779, bottled at 43% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It was aged in a combination of ex-bourbon and sherry casks.
The style balances gentle peat smoke with sherry sweetness, and the maritime character of the seaside distillery runs through it.
In the glass it shows dark chocolate, toffee, candied orange and tropical fruits such as pineapple and mango, over sea brine and soft charcoal smoke. The mouthfeel is silky, and the long, warming finish brings cocoa, roasted nuts and coastal spice.
