This is an 18-year-old Islay single malt from Bowmore, bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle. It matures in American oak ex-bourbon casks and European oak Oloroso sherry casks, which give sweet and spicy accents without the peat smoke taking over.
The nose has candied orange, ripe nectarine and creamy caramel, with toffee, butterscotch, refined peat smoke and a fresh, faintly minty note. The palate is full, with roasted almonds, nutmeg and dark chocolate, alongside honeycomb, maple syrup, juicy orange, liquorice and gentle smokiness.
The finish is long and warm, with soft peat smoke, woody herbs, dark chocolate and fruity sweetness.
