Bowmore – 1963-1993 30 Year Old 30th Anniversary (70cl, 50%)

This is an official Bowmore Islay single malt, distilled in 1963 and bottled in 1993 at 30 years old. It was released to celebrate 30 years since whisky broker Stanley P. Morrison acquired the distillery. Morrison had overheard two lawyers discussing the planned sale of the distillery to foreign buyers during lunch in Glasgow in July 1963. He telephoned the owner, Kay Grigor, and agreed the purchase that evening. The edition was 600 bottles at 50% in 70cl. It is described as balanced, with fruit and mellow peaty notes.
