Bowmore 25 Year Old is a peated Islay single malt, distilled on 9 September 1998 and bottled in June 2024 at 45.8% ABV. It comes in a 70cl bottle as part of the Infrequent Flyers series, one of 280 bottles from a single refill barrel.
A quarter of a century in the same refill cask leaves the distillery character clearly in view. The colour is golden amber. The nose is earthy and herbal, with toasted macaroons and rum baba over sweet phenols. The palate brings sweet and tart fruit, cranberry and peach, with cinnamon and freshly ground black pepper, carried by soft, rounded peat smoke, port and an exotic smokiness.
