Bowmore 21 Years Old is the fourth edition of the distillery's Masters' Selection, an Islay single malt bottled by the distillery at 51.4% in a 70cl bottle.
The whisky was matured in a combination of Tawny Port casks made from American oak and Oloroso sherry casks. The port casks bring red fruit and a soft sweetness, while the Oloroso adds dried fruit, spice and dark chocolate.
The nose offers ripe red fruit, raisins, candied orange, dark chocolate, warm spice and gentle peat smoke. The palate is full, with dried fruit, plums and sweet berries, balanced by citrus and a touch of sea salt. The finish is long and warming, with dark fruit, chocolate and spice.
