Bowmore – Bicentenary 98.8° Proof is a single malt whisky from Bowmore (Islay). Bottled at 56.2% ABV, 75cl. This is an extremely rare Bowmore released for the distillery's bicentenary year in 1979, created for Fecchio & Frassa and the Italian market. The whisky is rumoured to be from 1969 but this is not stated on the bottle. There are two other releases bearing this label as well, a pair of 1969 vintage single sherry casks produced for VIP clients of Fecchio & Frassa. The oldest operational distillery on the isle of Islay, built in 1779. Today it is part of the Suntory Group, having been acquired by the Japanese company in 1994. Under their ownership is has been nurtured into one of the most collectable names in Scotch whisky.
