Bowmore Legend is an Islay single malt with no age statement, from a 1990s bottling at 40%. The whisky was matured in ex-bourbon casks at Bowmore, on Loch Indaal, and the expression is now discontinued.
The nose offers gentle peat smoke, ash and sea air, with honeyed sweetness, ripe pear and soft malt. Honey and toffee lead the palate, followed by charred oak and a savoury edge of beef jerky and mint. The finish is long and smoky, with lingering peat, subtle salt and a faint pine freshness.
