Bowmore Legend is an Islay single malt without an age statement, bottled at 40% in the 1990s. It was matured in ex-bourbon casks at the distillery on Loch Indaal, and the bottling has since been discontinued.
The nose has gentle peat smoke with ash and sea air, honeyed sweetness, ripe pear and soft malt. On the palate honey and toffee come first, then charred oak and a savoury edge of beef jerky and mint. The finish is long and smoky, with lingering peat, subtle salt and a faint pine freshness.
