Bowmore Mariner 15 Years Old is an Islay single malt bottled at 43% ABV in a 70cl bottle. The name refers to the distillery's link with the sea, which shows in a coastal character of gentle peat smoke, sea air and rich fruit.
The whisky matured for fifteen years in American ex-bourbon casks and European sherry casks.
The nose has honey, caramelised fruit and orange peel, with prunes, raisins and a touch of vanilla, and soft peat and sea air behind. On the palate it is full and smooth, with caramel, butterscotch and dark chocolate, plus a little salt. The finish is long, with peat smoke, cinnamon and white pepper.
