The first release in Bowmore's Vault Edition series, launched in November 2016, in a 70cl bottle at 51.5% abv. The series explores essential characteristics of Bowmore whisky after maturation in the No.1 Vaults, and this first bottling looks at Atlantic sea salt. It was matured in ex-bourbon casks.
The nose combines vanilla with sweet lemons and oranges, apricot and berries, with sea spray and light wood smoke. The palate is oily, pairing salt with citrus and peaches, then iodine, earthy smoke and a touch of ginger. The finish is not too long and slightly drier, with fruit, salt, ashes and a light earthiness.
