Bowmore Vault Edition First Release 'Atlantic Sea Spray' is an Islay single malt in a 70cl bottle at 51.5% abv. It opened the Vault Edition series from Bowmore, launched in November 2016, which explores characteristics of Bowmore whisky after maturation in the No.1 Vaults. Here the focus is sea salt.
It was matured in ex-bourbon casks and bottled at high strength.
The nose is vanilla, sweet lemons and oranges, with apricot, berries, light biscuit, sea spray and a little wood smoke. The palate is oily and maritime, pairing salt with citrus and peach, with iodine and earthy smoke. The finish is not too long and slightly drier.
