Bowmore Vault Edition First Release is an Islay single malt bottled at 51.5% and matured in bourbon barrels. It takes its name from Warehouse No. 1, the oldest warehouse at Bowmore, which stands right on the sea. The casks were hand-selected for this bottling.
The bourbon maturation keeps the whisky direct, with lightly salty sea air in the foreground.
The nose is fruity with salty sea air, subtle peat, sweet beeswax and a little cocoa. On the palate come more maritime notes, blood orange, blackberry and cocoa. The finish is long, with sea salt.
