Bull Run Straight Bourbon is the flagship of Bull Run Distilling Co. in Portland, Oregon, bottled at 45% ABV (90 proof) in a 750ml bottle. The mash bill is high in rye: 65% corn, 25% rye and 10% malted barley.
It rested for a minimum of four years in new charred American oak. Fewer than a dozen hand-selected barrels go into each numbered batch, which is brought to proof with water from the Bull Run watershed.
Rye spice and caramel lead the nose, with butterscotch, vanilla and light barrel char. The palate is soft and sweet with butterscotch and toffee before pepper and baking spice arrive. The finish is warm, clean and honeyed.
