A 2022 Barbera d'Alba from Burlotto Gian Carlo. It shows a bright ruby colour with mature but taut red fruit, a hint of cherry and raspberry and light spice. On the palate it has lively acidity, fresh and flowing, with sharp but well-integrated tannins and a balance between fruity softness and a pleasant savoury finish. It is a straightforward, everyday style, best served around 16-18 C, and suits pasta with rich sauces, roast meats and medium-aged cheeses. It also works with small regional starters.
