Bushmills – 12 Year Old Single Malt Irish Whiskey (75cl, 40%)

This is a 12 year old single malt from Bushmills, triple distilled in Ireland. It matures in a combination of Oloroso sherry and bourbon casks, then finishes in Marsala wine casks, a triple wood maturation. It is bottled at 40% ABV in a 750ml bottle. The bourbon casks contribute vanilla and honeyed sweetness, the sherry casks add dried fruit and spice, and the Marsala finish brings stone fruit and a light wine character. In the glass it is described as honeyed, with toasted nuts, dried fruit and gentle oak on the nose, then apricot, raisin, vanilla, caramel and soft spice on the palate. The finish is warm, slightly sweet and fruity.
