Bushmills 16 Year Old is a single malt Irish whiskey aged for 15 years in a mix of 50% bourbon and 50% sherry casks. The two are married in a vat, then recasked into port pipes for a final year.
This maturation brings juicy fruit, nuts and spice, along with a hint of ruby colour.
The nose has exotic spices cut with rich cigar smoke. The palate opens with tangerines, cocoa and spicy port, later turning to nutty toffee. The finish is dry yet sweet, with port prominent and hints of bitter chocolate.
