Caisteal Chamuis Blended Malt Scotch Whisky (70cl, 46%)

Caisteal Chamuis is a blended malt Scotch whisky from Mossburn Distillers, made in a smoky island style from single malts all distilled on the Scottish islands. It takes its name from Caisteal Chamuis, also known as Knock Castle, a fortress that helped Clan Macleod hold the Sleat peninsula on Skye. The malts mature in refill and first-fill American oak casks, then are blended and finished in 200-litre first-fill ex-bourbon casks. This second maturation adds a touch of sweetness and strengthens the vanilla notes. It is bottled at 46% ABV. The nose is of strong peat smoke, peppery spice, vanilla and honey. The palate is peaty and peppery, with pleasing sweetness and vanilla. The finish is smoky and peaty, with peppery spice.
