Caol Ila 12 Year Old is a single malt from Islay. The distillery takes its name from the Gaelic for Sound of Islay, the strait between Islay and Jura that it overlooks, and it makes a lighter style of Islay malt.
The nose is rich, with Shreddies, toffee and hints of violet, and smoky bacon appears after a minute or two in the glass. The palate is fairly light in texture, with toffee, vanilla and pear and a hint of ash at the back. The finish is light in intensity but complex, ending in ash, tar and light peat.
