This is an herbal liqueur from Abruzzo, made by Enrico Toro in Tocco da Casauria. It is a digestivo of about 200 wild herbs picked on the slopes of the Maiella, macerated by the Toro family since 1817.
The herbs are infused slowly and naturally, with no added sugar or flavours. The name comes from Centum Herbora, 'a hundred herbs', and the 72 dates from 1972, when the new distillery was built.
It is vivid emerald green. The nose is led by mint, with pine, wildflowers and medicinal balsam. The palate is fiery on entry, then intensely herbal, dry and bitter-sweet. The finish is long, warming and clean.
