Chivas Regal 12 Year Old is a blended Scotch whisky made from a range of malt and grain whiskies, each matured for at least 12 years. This bottle holds 1.75 litres at 40% ABV.
Chivas Brothers first made the blend in the early 20th century, and the company's roots go back to a grocer's shop opened in Aberdeen in 1801. The 12 year old was first officially released after US Prohibition.
The nose is creamy, with vanilla custard, aniseed, lemon curd and butter toffee, then wood shavings and dried banana. On the palate come banana chips, barley malt, allspice, ground walnut and caramel. The finish is light, with spice, black pepper and cereal sweetness.
