Chivas Regal 12 Year Old is a Scotch blend from Chivas Brothers, bottled at 40% in a 70cl bottle. The company traces its roots to a grocer's shop opened in Aberdeen in 1801, and the 12 Year Old was first officially released after US Prohibition.
The nose brings vanilla custard, aniseed, lemon curd and butter toffee, followed by wood shavings, dried banana chips and a hint of cassis. On the palate there is more banana chip, with creamy barley malt, allspice, ground walnut and caramel. The finish is light and spicy, with black pepper and a lingering cereal sweetness.
