Chorlton Whisky Teaninich 11 Year Old (57.5%)

This is an 11 year old single malt from Teaninich, drawn from a single ex-Islay hogshead and bottled in 2020 at 57.5% ABV. The outturn was 187 bottles. The whisky spent its life in a hogshead that had previously held Islay whisky, which accounts for the light smoke running through it. The nose offers rhubarb and custard sweets, lemon sorbet and grilled peaches, with mineral and woodland notes, a little smoke and pipe tobacco. On the palate it is clean, sweet and creamy, with peaches, liquorice and blueberries, then lemon curd and a grassy, mineral edge. The finish brings orange and a hint of coal dust.
