Colonel E.H. Taylor Jr. 18 Year Marriage is a bottled in bond Kentucky straight bourbon from Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, in a 750ml bottle at 50% ABV (100 proof).
Two different mash bills, each aged for at least 18 years, are married together into a single bourbon. The idea goes back to Colonel Edmund Haynes Taylor Jr., who championed the Bottled in Bond Act of 1897. It comes in a cylindrical tube with an antique-style label.
The nose is described as vanilla butter cake, dark caramel, toasted oak, dried cherry and cinnamon. On the palate come dark toffee, brown sugar, espresso and dried dark fruit with a building rye spice, and the finish is long with vanilla, charred oak and warm spice.
