Colonel E.H. Taylor Straight Rye is a small batch rye whiskey from Buffalo Trace Distillery, bottled in bond at 50%, or 100 proof. Its mashbill holds only rye and malted barley, with no corn. It is named after Colonel Edmund Haynes Taylor, an early pioneer of the bourbon industry.
The nose offers dried fruit, black pepper and a touch of fresh dill. On the palate it is both sweet and savoury, with dark spices balanced against subtle caramel. The finish is oaky and dry, lingering for a moderate time.
