Crimson Casks is a Scotch malt whisky from Compass Box, bottled at 46% ABV.
It is built around sherry and red wine casks. The whiskies matured in American oak sherry butts that were seasoned with care to give a particular interaction with the wood, bringing spice and a generous intensity from the oloroso influence.
The nose brings chocolate fudge cake with clove and cardamom, plus plum jam and redcurrant jelly. On the palate come rich cherry, toffee and oak, and the finish carries raisin, honey and brown sugar.
