Compass Box Metropolis (70cl)

Metropolis is a blended Scotch whisky from Compass Box, the third release in its Extinct Blends Quartet. The series looks back to blends of the past, and this one turns to the Scottish cities where the art of blending came to the fore. The recipe is published in full: 25.8% blended malt aged in a refill sherry butt, 25.1% Aberlour in a re-charred American oak barrel, 20.5% blended grain in refill bourbon barrels, 16.6% Miltonduff in first-fill bourbon barrels, 7.1% Bowmore in a refill bourbon barrel and 4.9% blended Scotch aged mainly in a first-fill bourbon barrel. The nose opens with vanilla and several honeys, then fudge, apricot, pineapple and fresh fig. The palate is rich, with sultana, apricot and hints of smoky woodiness. The finish is long and sweet.
