Compass Box Orchard House (70cl, 46%)

This is a blended malt from Compass Box, bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle. It brings together whiskies from distilleries including Clynelish, Linkwood and Benrinnes. The character is fruit-forward, in keeping with the name. The nose is fresh green and red apples, with grainy pear skin, bright lychee and a faint hint of smoke. On the palate, tart apple is balanced by pineapple, golden syrup and buttery pastry, with gentle peat smoke underneath. The finish is creamier, with vanilla buttercream and lingering fresh fruit.
