Compass Box Orchard House is a blended malt Scotch whisky in a 70cl bottle, bottled at 46%. It is made mainly from Linkwood (39%), Clynelish (29%) and Benrinnes (20%), with a single malt from a distillery near Aberlour (8%), Caol Ila (2%) and a Highland malt blend (2%). The malts are between 6 and 10 years old.
Most of the recipe uses spirit bought newly distilled and matured in casks to Compass Box's own specification, drawing on distilleries known for a fruity style.
The nose shows apple and pear, then pineapple with lemon and lime, and Earl Grey tea. The palate is warm and malty with a gentle ginger spice, honey, strawberries and creamy vanilla sponge. The finish is medium in length, with sweet ripe pears.
