Peat Monster is a peated blended malt from Compass Box. In this edition Laphroaig replaces Ardmore, bringing a deeper smokiness and a more maritime character. Caol Ila still makes up the larger part of the blend, using slightly older whisky. The nose is aromatic, with plenty of peat and salt, and ripe fruit adds a little sweetness. The palate is full and very peaty, with a smoke closer to barbecue than to medicine: smoked bacon, malt, tropical fruit and spice.
