Compass Box Peat Monster is a blended malt Scotch whisky, bottled at 46% in a 75cl bottle without chill filtration. It sets intense Islay peat smoke over a honeyed malt core.
The recipe draws about 64% of its malt from Caol Ila, about 35% from Laphroaig and roughly 1% from a Compass Box Highland blend. After vatting, the whisky is left to marry for several months before bottling.
The nose has clover honey and heather, then dense peat smoke, salted butter and a gentle coastal brine. The palate is smoky and creamy, with honey, caramel, orange peel, tar and seaweed. The finish is long, with green tea, bonfire embers and brine, fading to a dry, malty sweetness.
