This Cragganmore was distilled in 1988 and bottled in 2014 at 25 years old and 51.4% ABV. It is one of Diageo's 2014 Special Releases, matured in American oak refill casks with new ends, and issued as 3,372 individually numbered bottles.
The nose combines floral heather, buttery toffee, popcorn, toasted cereal, dried banana, piney wood and red apple, with briny, nutty notes appearing when water is added. The palate brings pencil shavings, vanilla, heather honey and Brazil nuts, then oak, cocoa, marmalade and spice with water. The finish is vanilla and mandarin with drying oaky tannins and nuttiness.
