A 16-year-old Croftengea bottled by Thompson Bros in November 2022 at 50% ABV. The spirit was filled into casks on 8 April 2006 and comes from two hogsheads, one of them re-charred, in an edition of 479 bottles.
The pairing of a refill cask and a re-charred cask gives a more intense peaty, earthy character. The nose is autumnal, with lemon peel, wood smoke, and dried cinnamon and mint leaf. The palate brings pan-fried pineapple in butter, damp leaves, fresh tobacco, lemon curd and smoke. The finish is long, soft and smoky, with vegetal notes.
