Crown Royal Reserve 12 Year is a blended Canadian whisky at 40% ABV, in a large 1.75 litre bottle. It is the first Crown Royal Reserve to carry an official 12 year age statement.
It is a blend of five whiskies, each aged for at least twelve years in new charred American white oak barrels. That is an uncommon choice for Canadian whisky, and it gives a more pronounced oak character. It is made at the Gimli distillery on the shores of Lake Winnipeg in Manitoba.
The nose is pear, apple, vanilla bean and toasted oak. The palate brings caramel, baking spice and a light peppery rye note, with hints of strawberry and blueberry. The finish is medium to long, with toasted oak and soft spice.
