Cutty Sark 12 Year Old is a blended Scotch whisky in a 70cl bottle at 40%. It combines malt and grain whiskies, all matured for at least 12 years in a mix of bourbon and sherry casks, and it is not chill-filtered.
It is made by La Martiniquaise, the French spirits group that also owns the Glen Moray and Starlaw distilleries.
The nose has dried fruit and poached pears with caramel and soft clove. On the palate, malty, bready notes meet fresh tropical fruit, rhubarb, ginger pudding, vanilla and a touch of chocolate. The finish moves from citrus to woody spice and a little sea salt.
