Dalwhinnie 15 Year Old is a Highland single malt from what is described as the highest and coldest working distillery in Scotland. It is made with water from Lochan na Doire-uaine, a loch high in the Drumochter Hills.
The distillery was built in 1897 and first called Strathspey. It took the name Dalwhinnie when production began in 1898. This fifteen-year-old has a light to medium body.
The nose is crisp, dry and aromatic, with heather and peat. On the palate come heather honey and vanilla, followed by citrus fruit and malted bread. The finish is long, starting sweet before giving way to smoke, peat and malt.
