An 11-year-old straight rye whiskey from Dancing Goat, bottled at 51.3% ABV without chill filtration. It is Release 012 in the I Would Rye 4 U series.
The whiskey was distilled at MGP in Indiana from a mashbill of 95% rye and 5% malted barley. Nine barrels aged for around 10.5 years in once-used bourbon barrels were blended, then finished for nine months in freshly emptied ruby port barrels.
Currant jam, dark caramel, dried red berries and raisins show on the nose. The palate is lush with red wine character, berries, cherries and sweet oak tannin, with allspice and nutmeg. The finish is long, tannic and winey, with vanilla and oak spice.
