Blunt Blend is Batch #2 from Dark Arts Whiskey House, a straight rye whiskey in a 75cl bottle. It combines 8-year-old cask strength rye from a mash bill of 95% rye and 5% malted barley, bottled at 114.8 proof.
The whiskey was originally distilled in Indiana, then finished, blended and bottled in Lexington, Kentucky. The finishing took place in Armagnac and Madeira wine barrels.
The nose offers Jamaican pepper, white grape, hibiscus, liquorice, pear, coffee and dried berry. On the palate are pine resin, manuka honey, white pepper, chewy caramel, toasted oak and hazelnut chocolate. The finish is long, with resinous rye spice, soft tannins and caramel.
