Dark Arts Whiskey House Toasted Amburana Oak Stave Finished Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey (75cl, 54%)

This is a Kentucky straight rye whiskey from Dark Arts Whiskey House, in a 750 ml bottle at 108 proof. The mashbill is 95% rye and 5% malted barley. It was originally distilled in Indiana, then finished, blended and bottled in Kentucky. The rye is at least six years old when custom-toasted Amburana oak staves are added for the last few weeks of ageing. Amburana, also called Brazilian oak, is used in Brazil to age cachaca. Each small batch blend is numbered in sequence and contains whiskey of around 7 to 8.5 years. The nose offers buttercream, cinnamon sugar, apple and ginger. The palate recalls warm apple pie with vanilla ice cream, and the finish brings toasted coconut, red fruit and fresh rye bread.
