Dellavalle Affinata in Botti da Malvasia delle Lipari Grappa (70cl)

This is an aged grappa from the Dellavalle distillery in Vigliano d'Asti, made from pomace of the best Monferrato vineyards. It was distilled in small stills over a water bath. The grappa then spent ten years in casks that previously held Malvasia delle Lipari, the aromatic wine of the Aeolian islands off Sicily. The nose is intense, with aromatic herbs, dog rose, lavender and sweet vanilla, moving towards papaya, raisins, dried figs, chestnut honey and caramelised fruit. The palate is persistent, with herbal notes recalling eucalyptus.
