Den Klodsede Bjørn Vermouth Moderne (75cl, 17.5%)

Vermouth Moderne is an organic natural-wine vermouth made by Den Klodsede Bjørn together with Heiko Hoos in southern Germany. It is built on Gewürztraminer and Muskateller grapes from the vineyard of Heiko's cousin, and was first launched in September 2021. It comes in a 75cl bottle at 17.5% ABV. The style leans Italian, with a spiced sweetness balanced by freshness and acidity. Citrus, lemon verbena, juniper, coriander seed and cardamom shape the flavour. Tiny wine crystals may appear at the bottom of the bottle, a natural sign of its mineral character. The nose shows the grapes clearly, with fresh grapefruit. It works over ice with a slice of orange, as a highball with tonic, or in a Manhattan, Martinez or Martini.
