Desert Door Driftwood Cowboy is a Texas sotol from Desert Door Distillery in Driftwood, Texas, distilled from wild-harvested desert spoon plants. It is finished in barrels that previously held Garrison Brothers Cowboy Bourbon, adding caramel, vanilla and oak spice to the herbaceous desert profile. The result is a smoky, full-bodied sipping spirit between mezcal and bourbon. It is an extremely limited release, often only a few hundred bottles. The nose shows caramel, vanilla bean, toasted oak, desert herbs and subtle smokiness. The palate is rich and textured with brown sugar, molasses, roasted agave-like sweetness and earthy mineral undertones. The finish is long and warming with oak spice, herbal dryness and gentle desert smoke.
