Dewar's 12 Year Old is a blended Scotch whisky in a 1 litre bottle, bottled at 40% ABV. It blends malt and grain whiskies aged for at least 12 years.
After blending, it is matured a second time in oak, a double ageing process the brand describes as adding creaminess and cohesion. The casks named are ex-bourbon American oak and European oak.
The nose offers honeycomb, fresh heather, toffee and apple skin, with soft spice and a little smoke. The palate is medium-bodied and silky, with buttery caramel, ripe orchard fruit, citrus zest and vanilla cream. The finish is warming, with sweet malt, nutmeg and oak.
